So I haven't written in awhile. I've been busy and I've completely forgotten about this blog until I was driving myself to school today and thought of all the movies and books I've read/watched and haven't written about. I'm going to try and give a Coles notes version of the past 5 months.
My co-op job was great. I really did not want to leave it. I'm in a dilemma these days about whether or not to return. I know they want me back but I'm undecided whether I should go back or move on.
Christmas was nice, but not as good as other years. I did receive quite a large number of books, and a Chapters gift card and I went out on Boxing Day and bought some more books. This is the first Boxing Day in 5 years that I did not have to work. The books I received are: 2 Augusten Burroughs books (A Wolf at the Table and Dry), The Tales of Beetle the Bard, Eat.Pray.Love, Dan Brown's Digital Fortress, and a John Grisham novel who's title I do not recall at the moment.
I cannot recall what I bought right now. I'll write about that next time. I read Dry in one sitting, and then promptly started reading Eat.Pray.Love and at the moment am a little stuck. The first section was great but currently the author is looking for God, and that's not something I'm very interested in. I must admit, I've re-read the Twilight series again. The movie was very disappointing though. I have currently lent out my books so I don't get the urge to read them again.
This past week, I've watched several movies. Here they are in order of my watching them:
- Rock N Rolla
- In Bruges
- Slumdog Millionaire
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- Eagle Eye
- Zack & Miri Make a Porno
I have to say, I enjoyed all of them, except for the last one. Zack & Miri was funny, but not funny enough. The best part of it was definitely Justin Long.
Rock N Rolla was great, and I hope Guy Ritchie gets to make the sequel to it. I think he'll get his mojo back now that Madge is out of his life. In Bruges was a very dark comedy. I'm glad Colin Farrell won a Golden Globe for his performance because he was great in it.
Slumdog Millionaire deserved to be the Golden Globes darling. I hope it picks up a few Oscars too. It was an amazing movie. Great story.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was a good movie too. A little long, but it is spanning someone's whole life backwards, so I guess the length of it is a given. The performances in it were really good. I'm a big fan of any movie with either Cate Blanchett or Tilda Swinton and this had both of them!
Eagle Eye was nothing special, but it was good. It was a simple movie, yet it was interesting and action packed.
I still need to watch The Wrestler, Cassandra's Dream, Burn After Reading, and Vicky Christina Barcelona. I'm planning on watching all the major Oscar nominated movies once the nominations are released.
That's all for now. Must go and learn something. Ciao!
